There's nothing better than
a good movie shown a huge screen with good surround sound and low, low rumbling
bass. I love anything with good action, lots of car chases, explosions,
gunfights, and oh yeah, good martial arts. My favorite demo is the gunfight
scene in Kevin Costner's "Open Range". Bad stuff. "Pearl Harbor" and "Saving
Private Ryan" are also some of my favorites. In terms of martial arts, anything
related to the late Bruce Lee is just awsome. I can't stand Jackie Chan, nor can
I stand the recent Jet Li stuff. I also hate the ridiculous flying Chinese crap,
as shown in the acclaimed "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon". Let me tell you a
secret: martial artists can not fly. They never have, and never will, and that
includes Shaolin monks. "Crouching Tiger and Hidden Dragon" is like Chinese food
cooked in Beverly Hills by white folks, for white folks. Seriously. No decent
Asian who knows anything about martial arts has ever claimed that "CTHD" was a
good movie. If you ever want to see what a real action martial arts movie looks
like, rent "Ong-Bak, The Thai Warrior" at Blockbuster. Also check out Tony Jaa'a
new movie, "The Protector". Trust me on that.
I can be a pretty unbalanced
guy in the sense that my taste can vary from classical music to rock
and roll, from Mahler and Beethoven to Van Halen and Satriani. I can really
enjoy AC/DC, Judas Priest, Metallica, but also a good symphony at the
Orange County Performing Arts Center. My wife thinks I'm nuts, but that's
another story.
I had over 100 model planes
of WWII when I was a teenager. I used to know their speed, cruising ceiling,
etc... Any chance I get to visit an aircraft museum, I will make time to do
so.
